Skin is one of the sense organs of human body. It is too sensitive that it gets affected easily. One of the most common skin disease or disorder nowadays is

“Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome or SSSS”.

There are so many opinions regarding this particular skin disorder. Some says SSSS is a disorder that develops because of a toxin produced by a staphylococcal infection. Some says it is caused by the bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, or by a staphylococcal toxin.

But the proper definition of Staphylococcal scalded skin syndrome (SSSS) is a “serious skin infection”. The infection causes peeling skin over large parts of the body. It looks like the skin has been scalded or burned by hot liquid.

Basically we usually see this in the summer.

There are the signs and symptoms of it. These are as follows :

• Red, painful areas around infection site.

• Blistering.

• Fever.

• Chills.

• Weakness.

• Fluid loss.

• Top layer of skin slips off with rubbing or gentle pressure.

As per some survey in 2021, it’s stated that The incidence of Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome is relatively low. It’s common among children and far less common in adults.

A study in the Czech Republic showed – “an incidence of approximately 25 cases per 100,000 children younger than one year of age. Most cases occur in children younger than two years old. Staphylococcal Scalded Skin Syndrome can occur in outbreaks, particularly in nurseries.”

Immediate treatment of this skin disorder is to apply doctor prescribed antibiotic ointment. Those who get prompt treatment usually recover with no scarring or complications. The effect of such medicine usually begins in 24-48 hours, and it take few more days likely seven to 10 days to see proper result.

In some serious cases patient may need to admit in hospital for treatment. Treatment includes antibiotic medicine, replacing fluids, and skin care. But majorly treatment depends upon the seriousness of the disease and also guided by doctor.

Sometimes we, by ourselves suggest or apply some ointment or take medicine without taking any advice from Doctor, that should not be done. It needs a proper treatment to cure. Though it has no particular symptoms if you feel anytime of abnormality in skin immediately visit Doctor and take their advice.
